The hikes on the affordable Vivo T series and iQOO Z series come at time when smartphone prices are already on the rise. We've already seen OPPO and Realme phones get price hikes in India, while the recently launched OnePlus 15R is also expected to get a price bump soon.
This ongoing memory shortage, fuelled by surging AI demands for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) in data centres and devices, is rippling through the smartphone market. As AI models require more RAM for efficient processing, component costs escalate, forcing brands like Vivo and iQOO to pass hikes to consumers amid tight supplies.
