Oppo Reno 16 Series Key Specifications and Launch Timeline Leaked: Dimensity 8500 Tipped

Oppo may have only just brought the Reno 15 series to India, but early chatter around its successor is already picking up pace. A new leak circulating online suggests that Oppo has begun internal testing for what’s believed to be the Reno 16 lineup, offering a first glimpse at where the series could be headed next.

Oppo Reno 16 Series Key Specs and Launch Timeline Leaked

Nothing has been confirmed by the company yet, and the details remain early-stage. Still, the leak gives some clues about timing, design direction, and possible hardware upgrades.

Testing phase reportedly underway

The information comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, who claims that Oppo’s next-generation R series has entered the testing phase. While the post doesn’t explicitly mention the Reno 16 name, discussion around the leak points toward the upcoming Reno refresh.

The same leak suggests a mid-year launch window, which would align with Oppo’s usual update cycle for the Reno series.

Flat displays and multiple size options again

According to the tip, the next Reno lineup is expected to stick with flat displays, offered in more than one size. That would be in line with Oppo’s recent strategy of catering to different preferences within the same series.

The current Reno 15 range includes a compact model alongside a larger-screen version, and Oppo could follow a similar approach with the Reno 16 family.

New Dimensity chips and camera changes tipped

On the performance front, the Reno 16 series is said to move to MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 series platform, replacing the Dimensity 8450 used in the current Pro models. If accurate, this would indicate a modest generational step forward rather than a dramatic shift in positioning.

Cameras could see a more noticeable update. The leak claims that the upcoming phones may feature a 200-megapixel primary rear camera, along with a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor. That would mark a change in how Oppo approaches imaging in the Reno line, which has traditionally focused on balanced camera setups rather than headline sensor numbers.

The design is tipped to include metal frames, AMOLED panels with even bezels on all sides, and a slim overall profile.

Expected models and lineup structure

While Oppo hasn’t acknowledged the Reno 16 series publicly, the company’s recent naming pattern offers some clues. The lineup could include the Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro Mini, Reno 16 Pro, and Reno 16 Pro Max, mirroring the current Reno 15 family. There’s also a chance of a Reno 16C variant, which would follow the Reno 15C.

For now, though, these details remain unofficial, and a clearer picture will only emerge once Oppo starts teasing the next Reno launch.
