OnePlus 16 Specs and Features Leaked: New AI Button, Ultra-High Refresh Rate Display Tipped
OnePlus hasn’t officially teased the OnePlus 16 yet, but the leaks are already arriving at full speed. And honestly, some of the numbers being thrown around sound unusually ambitious even for a flagship phone.

The latest leak comes from well-known tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, and it backs up several earlier rumours about the device.
If everything lines up, the OnePlus 16 might end up focusing heavily on three things: raw speed, battery life, and display performance.
OnePlus May Be Chasing Extremely High Refresh Rates
The display is probably the most interesting part of the leak.
Earlier reports suggested that OnePlus was internally testing refresh rates starting around 185Hz, with some prototypes apparently reaching 240Hz. Now, the new leak talks about an “ultra-high refresh rate” BOE display, which keeps that conversation alive.
The phone is also tipped to use LTPO tech alongside LIPO packaging. In simpler terms, OnePlus could be trying to make the bezels extremely thin, possibly close to 1mm on all sides.
At this point, nobody knows if the final phone will actually launch with 240Hz support. It’s possible OnePlus is still experimenting before locking the hardware down.
Still, even the idea of a 240Hz flagship phone is enough to grab attention.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and a Huge Battery
The OnePlus 16 is also expected to run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip, carrying the model number SM8975.
Leaks suggest Qualcomm could push clock speeds close to the 5GHz mark this time, which would make this one of the fastest smartphone chips we’ve seen.
Then there’s the battery.
According to multiple leaks now, OnePlus may be testing a battery capacity as high as 9,000mAh. That’s way beyond what most flagship phones currently offer, and if true, it could completely change expectations around battery endurance in premium phones.
The phone is also tipped to include symmetrical dual speakers, full water resistance, a bionic X-axis vibration motor, and a dedicated AI hardware button, possibly for invoking OnePlus AI features.
200MP Periscope Camera Could Arrive Too
Camera upgrades are reportedly part of the package as well.
The OnePlus 16 is once again being linked to a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, alongside a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera.

Software-wise, the device is expected to launch with OxygenOS 17 based on Android 17.
Current rumours point toward a China launch sometime in October, although OnePlus hasn’t confirmed anything officially yet.
