Nothing OS 4.0 Based on Android 16 Rolling Out to CMF Phone 1, CMF Phone 2 Pro, and Nothing Phone 3a Lite
Nothing is widening the release of Nothing OS 4.0. The update is reaching CMF Phone 1, CMF Phone 2 Pro, and Nothing Phone (3a) Lite. These join Nothing Phone (3), which received Nothing OS 4.0 in November.
Nothing confirmed the rollout in a post on the Nothing Community forum. Nothing OS 4.0 is based on Android 16 and centres on consistency and usability. Visual tweaks, new interface options, and smoother daily interactions are central to this release.

Nothing OS 4.0 Rollout Schedule and Supported Phones
Nothing is distributing Nothing OS 4.0 in stages across models. CMF Phone 1 is first as the public rollout begins and spreads gradually. CMF Phone 2 Pro and Nothing Phone (3a) Lite follow in this phased plan.
| Device | Nothing OS 4.0 Rollout Timing |
|---|---|
| CMF Phone 1 | Public rollout begins, availability expands gradually |
| CMF Phone 2 Pro | Scheduled to receive update in the coming weeks |
| Nothing Phone (3a) Lite | Expected to start receiving update in early January |
Nothing OS 4.0 Regional Availability and Timeline Details
Nothing expects CMF Phone 2 Pro to get Nothing OS 4.0 within weeks. Nothing Phone (3a) Lite should start receiving the update in early January. The company warned that regions and deployment batches can change exact availability.
Nothing OS 4.0 mainly aims to polish the experience on supported CMF and Nothing phones. The update emphasises coherent design, steady performance, and familiar behaviour. It avoids major new core features that could disrupt how devices already work.
