Motorola’s Signature Phone Key Specs Leaked Ahead of Launch: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 165Hz AMOLED, 50MP Cameras

Motorola has been dropping hints about a new high-end phone for a while now, and a fresh leak finally puts most of the puzzle pieces together.

Detailed specifications of what’s believed to be the brand’s upcoming Signature Series smartphone have surfaced online, courtesy of noted leaker Evan Blass.

A new “Signature Series” direction

Earlier chatter suggested that the phone many of us knew as the Edge 70 Ultra, internally codenamed Urus, would no longer sit neatly within the Edge family. Instead, it’s tipped to debut as the first device in a standalone Signature Series. The latest leak backs that up and also confirms a flagship-grade chipset at the core.

The phone is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform, built on a 3nm process.

China launch as Moto X70 Air Pro

According to Digital Chat Station, the same hardware may launch in China as the Moto X70 Air Pro. One interesting detail here is stylus support. The leaker claims Motorola is enabling a range of AI features that can be triggered directly using the stylus, which could hint at productivity-focused additions rather than just note-taking.

Design-wise, the phone is said to use an aircraft-grade aluminium frame and comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It’s also tipped to meet MIL-STD 810H durability standards. Despite all that, it’s reportedly just 6.99mm thick and weighs 186g. Finishes are said to include linen-inspired and twill-inspired textures, depending on the color.

Display, cameras, and core hardware

The leaked specs paint a familiar flagship picture, but with a few notable numbers. There’s a 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz LTPO refresh rate and an eye-catching 6200 nits peak brightness. Protection comes via Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

On the camera front, Motorola appears to be sticking to a triple 50MP setup at the back. The main camera uses Sony’s LYT-828 sensor with OIS, joined by a 122-degree ultra-wide with autofocus and macro support, and a 3x telephoto using Sony’s LYT-600 sensor. Video recording goes up to 8K at 30fps, with Dolby Vision support. The front camera is also a 50MP unit, based on Sony’s LYT-500 sensor.

Memory options reportedly include 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, paired with 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Software is listed as Android 16, with a long-term promise of seven OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

Battery, charging, and connectivity

Powering the phone is said to be a 5,200mAh battery. Charging speeds look competitive, with 90W wired TurboPower fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and even 10W reverse wireless charging.

Connectivity options tick all the expected boxes for a 2026 flagship. That includes 5G SA and NSA support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and USB Type-C with USB 3.2 speeds. There’s also an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

Launch timeline and what to expect next

Motorola is expected to officially introduce its new Signature Series phone on January 7 at Lenovo Tech World, which takes place alongside CES 2026. The company has already been teasing the device for global markets and India, so an India-specific announcement shouldn’t be too far behind once the curtain comes up.
