Motorola Edge 70 Ultra Design and Key Specs Leaked Ahead of Launch: New Textured Finish, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
Motorola’s next premium phone is beginning to take shape. New leaks have given us an early look at what’s reportedly the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, the successor to 2024’s Edge 50 Ultra. Since Motorola skipped an “Edge 60 Ultra” this year, this model is set to pick up the flagship lineup right where the company left off.

The images and details come from Android Headlines, and while nothing is official yet, the leak gives a fairly clear picture of where Motorola may be heading with its next top-end slab phone.
A New Textured Finish And A More Defined Look
The leaked renders show the Edge 70 Ultra in two colors, both sporting a textured back panel that stands out from the eco-leather look of the Edge 50 Ultra. The pattern feels closer to what we’ve been seeing on newer performance-focused phones this year. It’s subtle, but it gives the device a more distinct look.
The camera layout sits in the upper-left corner and includes three lenses. Based on the placement and the brand’s past design decisions, we’re likely looking at a main sensor, an ultrawide camera, and a periscope telephoto lens.
The frame appears to be metal, and the right side carries the power and volume buttons. The left side has another key that may be reserved for AI-related shortcuts, something several manufacturers have begun experimenting with.
Rumored Specs Suggest A Premium But Not “Top-Tier” Positioning
The renders don’t reveal the front of the phone, but the expectation is pretty standard for this level: a centred hole-punch camera, slim bezels, and a large flat OLED panel. The display size is expected to land somewhere around 6.7 to 6.8 inches with a high refresh rate.
Under the hood, early information points to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. It’s a step below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but it still positions the Edge 70 Ultra as a strong performer. Geekbench scores shared in the leak show 2,636 for single-core and 7,475 for multi-core, paired with 16GB RAM. The phone is also said to ship with Android 16 running Motorola’s Hello UX interface.
Camera details aren’t fully known yet, though the periscope telephoto setup and upgraded main and ultrawide sensors seem likely. Battery specs haven’t surfaced, but Motorola usually leans toward fast charging in this class.
A Likely Moto X70 Ultra Rebrand For China
Like previous models, the Edge 70 Ultra will probably launch as the Moto X70 Ultra in China. There’s no firm launch timeline yet, but based on the company’s past flagship cycles, the reveal could happen sometime in the first quarter of 2026.
